Full of shame

She hides ashamed of everything.

Ashamed of her peace-loving father

Ashamed of her dying mother

Ashamed of her embarrassing grandparents

Ashamed of her crush on the geekiest guy in school

Ashamed of her average to failing grades

Ashamed that she still sleeps with a teddy bear she’s had since second grade

Ashamed that she has false friends

Ashamed in her taste of music

Ashamed in her puffy afro

Ashamed in her different colored eyes

Ashamed in her heritage

Ashamed in her style sense

Ashamed of her existence

Ashamed

Ashamed

And it appears that she’ll do anything to get rid of that feeling.

Including the unthinkable

Which is confronting it

If only she had the guts to do it.
