Happy extra February day!

Happy leap year! My eighth grade history teacher's birthday is today, she's now... thirteen years old, I think. Some of my friends dragged a guy and me during first today to sing happy birthday to her. That was random, as well as the short black out (that didn't last for five hours :( ) and the short and freezing evacuation because of a funny smell that was actually something that caught on fire in the boiler room. My thoughts on this: It should have been in the yearbook.
So now back to the topic: leap years. What is it? It's an extra day in February that occurs every four years. Because in simple terms, there's actually 365 1/4 days per year and the fourth year is 366 days. If that makes sense. If you want a quick and slightly complicated explanation, here's a video explaining it.

And I'm supposed to be working on the first draft of my English essay which is due tomorrow. -_-
So far I kept on wasting time, write a little bit, waste some more time, write a little bit, and repeat.
And it's been over five hours since I've been doing it and I've only reached the third paragraph.
This is good, because it means I have two more to finish before I retire for the night.
So ta ta and please tell me to stop procrastinating or not.

Classes & high school

Being a freshman is hard. Do this class, do that class, get high school credit, do your work, don’t get an F, pass. It’s also a bit harder if you’re in all honors.
Geography: Do your current event, answer this question, don’t get below a B or you’re on probation (my geography teacher really does do that), PASS.
Math: Work, don’t fail, and PASS
Science: Do your science project, study for the slightly harder honors test that isn’t even that much different from the regular test, do the work, PASS
English: Do your essay, read that book, do your book review, write in your notebook, write, PASS
The good thing about geography is that I don’t have to do any service hours, just like what my history teacher last year did to her honors classes. Now she was way harder than my geography teacher was. This is ironic considering that he’s ‘preparing’ us for the actual high school, which is more like giving us random rants which is wasting valuable class time.
But, I’m scared when I have to go to the actual high school next year. The classes are going to be slightly harder; the halls are going to be mazelike and confusing. It doesn’t help that there’s six buildings, three floors, and about five minutes to get to class. The college preparatory class that actually chose me and a bunch of my other friends are – as I heard – going to be boring filled with learning how to take Cornell notes that I already know how to do and working that gigantic binder that’s supposed to help us keep organized. And making us not want to take that class again, but we can’t get out of it because we’re stuck in it all the way to senior year. Plus, I heard it looks good on college applications, just like volunteering and a couple of other clubs that I’m going to join [maybe].
Well that’s high school for ya. Not really, like those in books and movies… kind of, it usually depends on your school. In fact, for my school the students actually want to learn [good colleges? Are their parents forcing them? Or is it them being their nerdy self that isn’t actually teased only admired and used]. Plus I heard that the college prep class was a bit more competitive this year than all the other years it was here. This reminds me…
What my high school life might be like. Only I won't go so crazy and I probably have to study more.

What’s funny the two jr. high schools in my town [that are major rivals] kind of hate each other. I wonder what it’s going to be like when we all go to the same high school next year. Will it be grr? Or will it be let’s get over our “preordained” rivalry and be friends, after all we are classmates now. [Only not so cheery, that would be a bit odd]. And when I said preordained, I was being a bit dramatic. Not everyone from my school and the other school actually hate each other, we’re [more they’re] jealous of each other. Especially since my school is the newer smarter version, and they're just older but they're most likely the high school's favorite because that school is way closer. *Isn't even sure if the high school has a favorite Jr. High*
And I’m ending with another picture or two.

Rivals ending in friendship

Morceau

A french word meaning piece. Like a piece of pie. It's also an English word.

morceau \mawr-SOH\, noun:
1. Piece; morsel.
2. An excerpt or passage of poetry or music.
(source dictionary.com it's also the word of the day)

mor·ceau
mor·ceau [mawr sṓ] n.
1.  short composition: a short musical or literary composition
2.  small piece: a tiny piece, e.g. a small mouthful of food
Encarta ® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1998-2005 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
(According to the dictionary on my computer)

Examples would be: Feed the dog with a morceau of pie or prepare to hear the begging noises all night long.
Or Not unless you are able to provide me with a little morceau of help.
-- Amitav Ghosh, Sea of Poppies
(First example I just made up second example would come from here.)

So by now you must be wondering why I taught you a new word. And it's because I want you to expand your vocabulary. And maybe get a kick out of it because if you say it enough it starts to sound like the two words more soul. Just like I am right now... kind of. Also quick question does A Sea of *Morceaux sound better or does A Sea of [random?] Pieces, or A Sea of [random?] Words?
A poll will be over there on the side of my blog if you are willing to answer.
And if you are wondering why I am asking that is simply because I decided to make my random collection of poetry and short stories/flash fiction/excerpts into a book from createspace (because I won nanowrimo.) So in order to do that, I need a title, then once I have the title I can make the cover and all that other stuff.
So please help me with finding a good title.
*Morceaux is the plural form of morceau.

Full of shame

She hides ashamed of everything.
Ashamed of her peace-loving father
Ashamed of her dying mother
Ashamed of her embarrassing grandparents
Ashamed of her crush on the geekiest guy in school
Ashamed of her average to failing grades
Ashamed that she still sleeps with a teddy bear she’s had since second grade
Ashamed that she has false friends
Ashamed in her taste of music
Ashamed in her puffy afro
Ashamed in her different colored eyes
Ashamed in her heritage
Ashamed in her style sense
Ashamed of her existence
Ashamed
Ashamed
Ashamed
And it appears that she’ll do anything to get rid of that feeling.
Including the unthinkable
Which is confronting it
If only she had the guts to do it.

Happy Valentine's Day

It was kind of sad this year seeing all the other people in school with their roses, candy, balloons and stuff. While I'm over here with a pencil, a store bought card, and a soda given to me by friends and for being a four point oh genius (thus the reason why I got the soda). (It's some school thing where they award people with four point ohs.) But later on in the day I became happy and me. Here's a picture describing my day.

I realized that I don't need a guy to make me happy. I can become happy on my own terms. So before Valentine's Day even started (about a week ago I think) I promised myself that I would have no Valentine. It was simple and actually quite nice. But since it is Valentine's day...

No hearts with gooey romantic stuff just some ice cream and a cherry on top. (Who's your boyfriend I forgot, is it a, b, c...) (Childhood days, they never leave ya)

Le cafe.

Such as writing a book under a week, or something of the sorts. And if you were wondering, no I'm still not finished with my novel. And no, I'm not willing to drink a lot of coffee to do it. Because one, there's school the next day, and two I don't think my dad would like it if I drank all of his coffee. Though it is tempting.

They'll call me freedom, just like a waving flag

Sweet memories come when I listen to this song. Memories of sitting in the auditorium and watching a random video of some spirit thing that occurred at the local high school. In fact, that's the only memories that come when I listen to that song.

Give me freedom, give me fire, give me reason, take me higher

See, the champions take the field there, you define us, make us feel proud
In the streets are heads a lifting, as we lose our inhibition,
Celebration is around us, every nation, all around us

Finish?

It's been sixteen months. Sixteen months since I started writing on my novel Immortality Doesn't Exist. And I'm still at the ending. -_-
I should really finish it and stop procrastinating. I've been procrastinating on it a lot. And the ending isn't that hard to finish... not unless it was this book. Or if you were me. A person that seems to want to draw it out and not want the book to end yet. Which was a bit odd considering that I'm going to write two more books and make it into a trilogy.
So ta-ta
I'm going to try to finish it today or tomorrow.
But that probably means procrastinating on the rewrite process. Oh well at least I can say I wrote a novel from finish to end.

What kind of nerd am I?

Shortened, less condensed version of a random conversation in my science class today. Most of the conversation is kind of wrong but you get the general idea.

Guy in my science class: Are you a nerd Mr. [science teacher's last name]?
Teacher: Well nerds are a person that loves to do something very much. There's the one that loves science, books, etc. nerds.  So... I guess I'm a science nerd, a computer nerd, and [some other nerd that I can't remember right now]
Girl with black hair that's not me: What kind of nerd am I [science teacher's name]?
Teacher: An anime nerd.
Same guy from above: What kind of nerd am I?
Teacher: A theater nerd.
Guy: *Makes a dramatic pouty face*
Teacher: See *laughs*

Etc. etc. You can see where that's going. A bunch of other students asks what kind of nerd they are. The teacher thinks for a minute and replies. Then we had to move on to presenting stuff which was typically boring.

During that random conversation about nerds, I started thinking as usual.
What kind of nerd, am I? I think to myself. And being my usual school quiet self I kept my hand down and didn't ask the teacher what kind of nerd I am. Because he'll most likely say...
"Hmm... I don't know, probably some kind of [random thing] [creative?] [writing?] [books?]  nerd."
So while I was thinking What kind of nerd am I? I made a short mental list and I'm going to post it here.

I'm a...

  • Writing nerd
  • Blogger nerd
  • Academic nerd (the one that usually gets straight A's)
  • Book nerd
  • Procrastinator nerd
  • Being me nerd.

A 2/8/12 kind of day quote

I should read the book to fully understand that quote.
But that means waiting for at least 87 other people to finish the book before I can read it.
Hmm...
*Places library hold on the book anyways*

A book named Crossed

Book: Crossed
Series: Matched #2
Author: Ally Condie
Status: Currently reading
How I'm liking it so far: It's okay I guess.
Reason why I'm reading this: To make my twin a bit annoyed because she really wants to read this book. And plus I needed a book to read. Plus, I wanted to see Ky's view on things not really Cassia. (And this was after I checked out the book.)
Who's my favorite so far: No one, except maybe Ky. Only I wouldn't call him my favorite, it's just that I like him a bit better than the others. Minus Indie I like her too.
Other: It's hard to get into the book if you've kind of forgotten nearly everything from the first book. Which is a bit ironic considering that Matched is on the next desk over from me.
And it's a bit interesting to know that the setting is based in the southern part of the state I live in. At least this book ins't entirely not educational. I'm learning about the geographical features of my state... kind of.
Current rating: 2 or a 3 out of five.
