Perks of being a twin

A picture of my twin and me at our little brother's graduation.
As a twin (who doesn't look like a twin but really is a twin) there are perks to being a twin (as well as disadvantages but that could be another post later down the line) like....
  • Having a natural armrest (only works if the other twin is shorter than you)
  • You're never alone
  • You have a best friend for life
  • You are natural roommates (starting from conception)
  • You could talk to your twin about anything
  • You have another closet you could get your hands onto
  • In other words, you share everything (which can get quite annoying)
  • You could easily blame them for some of the mistakes that you did
  • You also have a guinea pig who's willing to try out your bad cooking
  • Ultimately, you have a special bond with someone who's been with you through thick and thin

What I've been learning

About books and dating in general:
  • It’s okay to not finish a book series that you stopped being interested in
  • Update your reading list
  • There aren't enough diverse books available at bookstores or libraries, specifically in the YA section.
  • Don't date anyone who doesn't read books for fun. (More than two times a year)
  • Don't date anyone who doesn't have books in their house
  • Don't date anyone who isn't prepared in school, because it can spread to other areas of their life.
  • Don't date anyone who doesn't identify as a feminist.

About myself:
  • I'm an insomniac
  • It takes forever for me to get to sleep because I just keep thinking, thinking, thinking.
  • When trying to get to sleep, just play a lot of American Authors songs.
  • However, once I'm asleep, I can stay asleep and not wake up till it’s four in the afternoon.
  • I miss a dog I used to have more than I miss my ex.
  • I'm starting to identify as a cisgendered female, who considers herself heteroromantic, gray asexual.
  • One of the reasons why I had a boyfriend was because I didn't want to be one of the few people still alone. It was stupid, because being single isn't that bad.
  • I am capable of practicing a bit of French every day.
  • I like writing lists.

A generation lost in space

source
  1. Chocolate is always yummy.
  2. Disney movies are a nice pick me up.
  3. Reading is pretty relaxing
  4. Writing is occasionally thought provoking.
  5. Things that will make me cry: Whenever Disney just has one of those beginnings like the one seen in Frozen and Up; The Fault in Our Stars by John Green; The Hunger Games and Catching Fire and Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins; Doctor Who before Steven Moffat became the head writer
  6. Bookstores are nice places to explore.
  7. Coffee is delicious, especially if it’s the Caramel Flan Frappuccino from Starbucks
  8. Peppermint tea from Trader Joe’s is relaxing
  9. Eighteen is a pretty number.
  10. My bed is pretty comfortable.
  11. Rereading my favorite books just so I can experience all the reasons why I fell in love with that book in the first place. Meanwhile picking up new details about the book along the way.
  12. Scarves are warm, cute, and nice to have around.
  13. Magic. Just magic.
  14. Music is nice to listen to.
  15. Silence is actually not that bad.
  16. The movie Anastasia (not by Disney!) will always be my favorite animated movie.

  18. Fairy tales are magical.

A random list that's been floating through my head lately.

  • It’s important to love yourself.
  • You don’t always have to go to church to know the difference between right and wrong.
  • Dress up, do everything and anything for yourself. Impress yourself. Be your own best friend. Just love yourself. Because after all in the end you’re stuck with yourself for all of forever and eternity.
  • If you feel bad about something, try forgiving someone, if they actually deserve it. Don’t just forgive someone just because they demand of it, and you know for sure that they don’t deserve of it.
  • Always save that one kiss for someone special (even if it is just for yourself).
  • Smile.
  • You have the right to be angry.
  • Treat your body like a temple.
  • If you don’t feel well, take some time off to try to make yourself feel better. Actually try.
  • Try to do something that you enjoy, every day.
  • Crying doesn’t make you weak.
  • It’s okay to want to spend some time alone.
  • Love those who actually deserve it.
  • Remind yourself that you are a lovely person made out of elements that literally make up the stars around us.
  • Try to find some kind of balance in your life.
  • Grades aren’t everything.
  • Puppies help.
  • Misunderstanding stems from miscommunication.
  • Actually try to talk to someone about your feelings.
  • Do everything slowly!
  • No matter how hard you try to make yourself feel empty, it won’t work in the end. Feelings will seep in through the cracks of your system. And you’ll only feel worse.
  • Always try to keep track of your money.
  • Moderation!
  • Jackasses are disguised in many forms.
  • Try to accept the flaws of someone you love.
  • Never ever let anyone touch you without your permission.
  • It’s okay to still love animated movies, even at age seventy five or whatever.
  • Achieve happiness, but never at the expense of your health.
  • There’s always someone good trying to help ease the evil in this world.
  • Never ever abuse anyone in any shape or form.
  • Never be jealous of someone else’s life when you already have a pretty awesome one.
  • It’s okay to have the lights on.
  • It’s okay to be afraid.
  • It’s okay to not want to do anything for the day.
  • Remember this, Photoshop isn’t portable and it sets the standard for unachievable looks in beauty.
  • Try to be comfortable in your own skin.
  • It’s okay to not listen to those around you.
  • Do whatever you want, as long as you’re responsible for it! And at least know the risks that you’re taking on.
  • It’s okay to still keep some of your childhood toys.
  • It’s okay to be jealous but don’t let it ruin your life.
  • If you want to take a selfie, because you feel cute, then take it!
  • Don’t ever try to starve yourself on purpose!
  • It’s okay to not know what you want to do after high school.
  • It’s okay to take a little time off for yourself so you can try to figure out what you want to do.
  • Remember to eat healthy!
  • Stay hydrated!
  • It’s okay to be happy and to be all smiling and like a little girl sometimes, especially because of a certain someone.
  • It’s okay to say no!
  • It’s okay to not want to go beyond your limit!
  • Always take care of yourself first.
  • The future is frightening. Embrace it and just know that you’re capable enough to handle it.
  • It’s okay to ask for help.
  • Take naps.
  • If you don’t feel like doing it then don’t do it. This includes smiling, eating something that your older sister made, reading, etc.
  • Reread your favorite books so you can experience all the reasons why you fell in love with that book in the first place.
  • Challenge yourself! Try new things! All the while think to yourself, can I handle it? (And be honest to yourself).
  • Sleep isn’t your enemy.
  • Listen; really listen to what your body wants.
  • There’s a difference between wants and needs.
  • Write it down so you won’t forget!

See the colors, don't let your red applesauce spill ~ (c) Always wear your seat belt!

So far, I’ve completed one of the things on my summer list. Technically three or four things, but reading, writing, and not being on the computer a lot is more of a general thing for me. While learning how to drive isn’t so general in a way.
After eighteen school days (starting on June 10), I’ve had to go to the local high school, for about two hours, to take driver’s ed. It was filled with learning how to drive a car, checking a car fluids and tires, how to stay safe, and other car stuff.
Occasionally I had to go to school before class started or stay at the school after class (technically going home and then coming back again) to do the actual driving. And at first, I sucked at it, a lot. However, with a lot of practice driving on the roads, highways, and freeways, I’ve gotten better at it. And that was mainly thanks to my older sister, who is nice enough to spend part of her summer teaching me how to drive.
By now after six hours driving in class, another six hours observing people how to drive, and thirty-five-ish hours spent in class, I’m finally done with it with a certificateto prove it as well. And now I have to wait another two months or so before getting my license. However, for the moment I think I’ll complete the rest of my night driving and practice my driving skills which mainly involve parallel parking.

P.S. I'm going to postpone this week's Lifescouts post till Friday because I'm in the mood to.
P.P.S. Since google reader is now officially gone, you can still follow me. Just go to my feedly page or to my bloglovin page or even to my rss page. There are of course other options, which you can find if you click on the word that says follow (above the subscription links). A little menu will come down with all the options. Of course, there's also subscribing to my blog as well as getting email updates, which is just as nice.

The official pros and cons list of my school, created by moi

This isn't the complete list considering that it has only been three weeks of school, however it's just some of the 'small' things that I like and don't like about my school.
Cons:
  • The inside school temperature is messed up. When it’s hot outside, it’s hot inside, when it’s cold outside it is cold inside. Thankfully, the school isn’t as hot as it was at the beginning of the school year, for three days straight the SBOs (Student Body Officers) gave nearly everyone free, cold, refreshing, bottled water. There were fans blowing loudly in the hallways as well as water cups around the school. In fact, my school was mentioned in a newspaper because it was so hot and it probably had affected some students somehow. Thankfully, the school is finally getting an air conditioner that will be available in four to eight weeks. However, by then the outside temp. would be cold and it would be kind of useless to have the air conditioning on when it's already cold outside.
  • It starts too early in the day (around 7:30 AM), meaning that I have to wake up really early (roughly between 5:30 – 5:40 AM) just to get ready and catch the bus that arrives around 6:40 something.
  • There’s too much homework. Math, History, Biology, Graphics, and just about nearly every other class I have.
  • Studying, there’s going to be a lot of it if I’m expected to pass this year.
  • The cafeteria food isn’t that good, and there’s no more juice, just milk and I don’t like drinking school milk.
  • The hallways are slightly confusing. The second and third floors is literally a square with classrooms everywhere and it doesn’t help that the classroom numbers don’t have a pattern themselves other than big numbers are on one side of the square and little numbers are on the other side.
  • My locker is still stuck despite asking the school to fix it for me a couple of times.
  • I feel lonely in some of my classes despite having some friends in that class but not in this class.
  • Too many textbooks to carry to class, (I would have put them in my locker but it’s going to take a long while before a custodian will actually fix my locker.)

Pros:
  • My locker (despite being stuck) is near the library.
  • I get out of school early (around 2:10 PM).
  • On Mondays, the school day officially starts at around 8:30 AM. However, it will be kind of useless to me, considering that I still have to take the bus - especially during the wintertime - at around 6:40 (5?) ish. But, I guess I have more free time to do some homework and possibly sleep at a table in the back of the school library, or just go on the computer and try to get onto blogger.
  • I feel a bit smarter than some people do in my class. (Sorry, for feeling so braggy but it’s true.)
  • I get to make t-shirts, stickers, and other stuff this semester.
  • I have the option of going to any of the restaurants/ fast food joints in my town for lunch. However, I have only half an hour or so to do that and I don’t have a car to go anywhere, though my friend is getting her driver’s license this month...
  • I’m only a ten minutes or so walk from the public library which has real air conditioning. Meaning that I won’t be late at returning my books there again, (that is if I will remember them in the future).

(Inspirational Monday posts will be posted on Monday, if I don't forget.)
