Missing peoples and being missed

Missed (verb): to regret the absence or loss of

To my friends both in real life, and online (you know who you are.) To my sister who's in her last year of college. To him who hasn't been in school for a while...
And to my past me.
As well as to everyone else in between.
I miss you

A book that I finished

The book that I just finished, an hour or two ago, was...

13 gifts
By Windy Mass

It's the third from what I'm going to call the Birthday Series (not really a series, but it kind of is. And there's no name for the series, I just put Birthday there because it involves birthdays.) The other two books are 11 Birthdays, and Finally. They're pretty good, it of course involves the same town, and some of the same people as well as new ones. I would recommend those two books, in fact if you're thinking about reading the book mentioned above (picture,) don't just yet, because you won't really understand what's going on. Well you wouldn't understand how some of the characters are involved with this woman who has a duck birthmark. So go read it first, but as I remember I'm giving a review on 13 Gifts, not the first and second book. Here's the summary...

Goodreads Summary: Wendy Mass turns to another magical birthday: 13!

When Tara, a self-proclaimed shrinking violet, steals the school mascot, a goat, in order to make some friends with the popular crowd and gets caught, she gets herself in a heap of trouble. In addition, her parents decide that instead of taking her on their summer trip to Madagascar to study the courtship rituals of the Bamboo Lemur, she must go stay with her aunt, uncle, and bratty cousin Emily St. Claire in Willow Falls. Tara thinks it's a good time to start over; she'll be turning 13 after all, so she might as well make the best of it and perhaps even attempt to break out of her shell (in a non-criminal manner). What Tara doesn't know is that this charmed town has something big in store for her on her 13th birthday. It's not a typical birthday. But then again, nothing is Willow Falls is exactly typical!

My response to the book: It was really good, just as funny and teensy bit romantic as the other two books. And of course a lot of new peoples to meet, and the weirdest stuff ever. All in a small town that would have been kind of unrealistic in real life. I mean, who keeps their door unlocked anymore? There might be thieves living right next to you. *Shifty eyes* Well moving on, as usual it teaches, something new such as in this one, never try to give a guy you like in the eighth grade a punch that has a love potion in it. Because then it will guilt you, possibly for the rest of your life, and the lady with the duck birthmark will keep on sending you stuff about your daughter needing to pay your debt. It also teaches you about secrets, where there ones that you keep, and others that you can't keep or else it will probably kill you. And of course, there is the stuff about forgiveness, and how when you hated a person for a long time, all because of some middle school incident. It can become good in a way in the future. Plus don't release your feelings in negative ways such as cutting (not that there was any cutting in there! I just typed it, because I just want everyone to know about it by now.)

Bonne lecture vous les gars
Happy readings you guys.

It's been a while....

A while since I've posted any kind of my writing. So I got this from my other blog A School Story A Day. (Click the button!) I think it was the last Monday's one (9/12/11.) Well here it is.

Harder to lose
Harder to buy
This is the land of
Sugar high

The poem plays in my head as my fingers start to do their daily dainty work, each evening. This was patching up the soldiers’ belongings, or also known as their clothes, and once in a while one of the items that their mother, sister, or sweetheart would send in. And each night, I would silently try and not cry, as pictures of my mother and little sisters come to my mind. Oh, it was hard work, for the women in the war, always worrying, cleaning, and taking care of stuff. It seems as if it will never leave a lady’s life in the near future. It was always too much work, and barely any free days.
“Oh stop complaining Anita, there are others who has it way worse,” said Mother Lila as if reading my thoughts. I don’t bother to look up at her over the fire, as my fingers patch up this nasty rip on one soldier’s uniform.
“I ain’t complaining, Mother Li, I was just… thinking about how life is hard and-”
“In a complaining tone, thinking or not? Yeah right, I can hear ya complaining a mile away, even if it is in your head,” she says in her strict grandmotherly way. I sigh, and roll my eyes a bit, reprimanding myself a bit for doing it again. “But anyways…” she trails off a bit as if a bit unsure of how to go on. I start to put my guard up, preparing myself for the worst. War does that to you, it gives you a nasty surprise when you were expecting one to be good and hopeful. After a while, though you’ll get used to it, even if it took a year or two.
“The boss…” uh oh, if it’s something about the doctor then it’s going to be bad really bad. “Are you listening Anita?” she says bringing me back to reality, just as my mind was about to go to the worst case scenarios at what might of happened to the doctor.
“Yeah, I’m listening,” I say giving her a quick glance before going back to my mending.
“Well then, the boss said ya can take a day off a day after tomorrow,” she says quickly, in an almost grump voice but underneath it I can catch just a hint of gratitude.
“Oh thank you, thank you!” I yell, suppressing the urge to jump up and down and give her a peck on the cheek.
“Don’t thank me, thank the boss, and he’s got something else for ya…” she trails off uncertainly again, but I didn’t notice because I was excited about having a day off again. “He um, said that… Your brother,” she takes a deep breath before muttering the last word so quietly that I couldn’t hear.
“Come again?” I ask my beating heart still excited.
“I said your brother um… died?” she said. Everything started to crash down, onto me as I realize why the doctor even gave me a day off. My brother dead and he was the only other lifeline I had here, without him…. I don’t bother thinking about the stuff that might happen now. In fact, I don’t bother to notice everything around me anymore, once I heard that he died, I just shut down. In the distance, I can hear Mother Lila screaming my name, and someone else, someone familiar, and yet not familiar. But I don’t hear their words behind the screams, or the scrambling feet, because I can feel myself being welcomed into the darkness.

An alien in math.(A cartoon)

What if this happened in math?

Teacher: You subtract five to both sides.... blah..... blah......blah....blah... and that is how you do a multistep equation
Students: Huh? *Some of them writes it down*

Girl: Mr. Hyptonuse, I don't really get it.
Teacher: (sighs) Didn't you pay attention?
Girl: No
Teacher: (sighs again) You subtract five to both. sides.... blah.. blah.. blah
Students: Umm, Mr. Hyptonuse!
Teacher: Yes?
Students: *Points to the chalkboard*

Alien: Hey it actually worked. Well hello, I'm Ms. Pinki Pie, and I shall be your new school principal. Your other one, umm unfortunately had an accident with the printer. And..... blah, blah, blah

Everyone in the classroom: *Gasps* *Stares* *Shocked* *Scared*

Another music video

Hands on me by Vanessa Carlton is a good song. Seriously you should listen to it, in fact I'll post the song on her.
And if you can't tell by now, I'm a teensy (maybe a lot) hyper.

We'd cross the deepest oceans
Cargo across the sea
And if you don't believe me
Just put your hands on me
And all the constellations
Shine down for us to see
And if you don't believe me
Just put your hands on me

Someday when our stories are told
They'll tell of a love like this
When our descendents are all growing old
1,000 years they'll be singing
Nah-nah, nah-nah, nah, nah, nah

We'll climb Tibetan mountains
Where we can barely breathe
I'll see the Dali Lama
I'll feel him blessing me
And all the constellations
Shine down for us to see
And if you don't believe me
Just put your hands on me
Your hands on me...

I'm going to be a la tante (aunt)

Not a real one, I'm going to be that one in years from now. I'm an aunt to a plastic baby named Bob whom I call Daniel. And if you're wondering who's the mom, it's my sister Tracy. She has to return him to the adoption agency (aka school) on Monday. Here's some sucky pictures that I took with the webcam. And now he's crying and now he stopped. Well enough of me rambling, here it is

Does it look like a Bob to you?
And a closer up version.

And here's the rest of the tips

I don't have much to do, so why not post up the rest of the tips from Sparklife?

5. Get Rhino Tough
You’re ugly. You look like a spastic puppet when you run. Your hair is dumb and you smell like sandwiches.
If you are shedding a tear after reading that, you are not ready to be a writer. Writers must build up a tolerance to negative comments and rejection or else they will implode. Never take it personally. (I enjoy negative comments, but I’m also crazy.)
6. Write every day.
There’s no trick to this. Just do it. Every day. Even Christmas.
7. Ask for advice.
Send emails to the places you’d like to work and DON’T ask for a job. Instead, ask for advice. Editors are hounded by writers looking for work, and they tend to ignore the requests, but requests for advice are different. These requests will get their attention, and they are likely to respond. You won’t instantly get a job by doing this, but you will get valuable information about the specific type of writing job that interests you. Bonus tips: Keep the email short! Three sentences are all you get. And don’t you dare try to be funny, because it will always come across as desperate and sad. Be sincere and professional.
8. Be humble.
In New York City, there are 8 million people, and 8.5 million writers. You are not special. Your precious words are not made of treasured silk and whispers. So many writers think they have finally found the best way to say, “Love is strange,” and act as if we should all be thankful that their words exist. PUH-leeeze! You will have plenty of time to build a crazy ego once you’ve been published and are a millionaire. Until then, stop acting like tool box and take off that scarf! It's summer!
9. Be happy!
Do you know Kim Schifino, the drummer of the band Matt and Kim? Watch her drum. She is the happiest drummer of all time. She’s played these songs countless times and yet she’s still having fun. This is how you should feel about writing. When you sit at the keyboard, that same smile should appear on your face. If you don’t feel this enthusiastic, quit and become a chimney sweep.
10. Read this book.
There are 7,000,003 books out there about writing. You only need this one:
On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, by Stephen King

11. Wear less purple.
This is our favorite group of words ever published on the internet. That is all.

XD The last one is so random

Some writing tips

I can give you a million websites, that has a bunch of writing tips. All going to say the same thing in their own weird little way. But I found this is pretty good, it's from SparkLife, and I find it helpful. Well  here are some of the tips.
The rest of the tips are right here if you were wondering.

1. Do not follow any rules.
There is no correct way to enter the writing world. Ask ten different writers how they got started, and you’ll get ten different responses. Some may have gone to journalism school, but most have not. I took only two or three writing courses at school, including Business Writing and the mandatory and utterly horrible Composition 101. And yet, without any experience or even a writing degree, at the end of my senior year I was offered a freelance gig at a national magazine with a circulation of 1.2 million. A year later, I was hired as an associate editor. No one told me how to do it. I just sent out silly writing samples that took me a few days to write. Meanwhile, my friends who all slaved away at writing workshops and literature camp hated me because I was getting paid to write despite the fact that I had never used a semicolon correctly. (I use them to replace the letter O. Is that wr;ng?)
2. Go to college.
Contrary to my last statement, college is important. Few, if any, media outlets will even look at writing clips from someone who has only a high school degree. Go to college. But…
3. Major in anything you dang well want to.
I never studied creative writing. You can major in anything and still become a writer. I majored in broadcasting. A writing degree may help, but I wouldn’t recommend it. And my reasons are three.
A. A good editor will identify talent regardless of your education background.
B. Some (not all) writing courses are detrimental to young writers because they are taught by angry, out-of-touch, lifelong losers. No one taught me how to write funny articles. If I handed my stories to an English professor, she would rip them to shreds and shout, “The semicolon is not an O!” And yet, here I am getting paid for my words. Weird, right? [Waves to all angry English teachers in the world.]
C. A book of poetry written by an English major? Yawn. A book of poetry written by a physical education major? Well, now I’m interested.
4. Read everything.
This is a no-brainer, but let me stress the importance of reading a wide variety of books. Sticking with one genre or one author is not allowed! You must branch out. Read the weirdest, stupidest, and worst books you can find. Much can be learned by reading ridiculous literature. To help find dumb books, play Dan’s Used Book Game.
Step One: Visit a used book store with your friends.
Step Two: Each person finds a bizarre and goofy book on the shelves. Use pre-set rules, such as, “The book cover must be green and feature a wolf.”
Step Three: Buy the books.
Step Four: Stand in a circle outside the store. Make everyone trades books by handing the book to the person on their left. That person MUST read the book handed to him, or else he loses.
Step Five: Laugh and eat cheese fries.
Step Six: Write up hilarious book reports to prove that you’ve read the book. You can also set up point values for things you find in the books. (Like murmurs.)
This is a fun game, and I guarantee you will learn more about writing by reading awful books than you will by reading War and Peace eight times.

Hello Week

It is hello week at my school to welcome all the new students, and teachers, and the old students back to school. Which is ironic since school started a month ago. But anyways hello!
And today was the first dance of the year, the hello dance. It was crowded and stuffy, fun. and sucky. Everyone was either dancing, or just standing around. And amid all that was moi photographing it all. It was for yearbook though so the camera was only temporary. But it was fun, snapping everyone's pics, and they were happy about it. Especially the not really popular peoples.
Well bye, I'm tired now. Taking pictures, dancing, and doing homework really will sap your energy, as well as soda.

Goodreads summary: Saba has spent her whole life in Silverlake, a dried-up wasteland ravaged by constant sandstorms. The Wrecker civilization has long been destroyed, leaving only landfills for Saba and her family to scavenge from. That's fine by her, as long as her beloved twin brother Lugh is around. But when a monster sandstorm arrives, along with four cloaked horsemen, Saba's world is shattered. Lugh is captured, and Saba embarks on an epic quest to get him back.

Suddenly thrown into the lawless, ugly reality of the world outside of desolate Silverlake, Saba is lost without Lugh to guide her. So perhaps the most surprising thing of all is what Saba learns about herself: she's a fierce fighter, an unbeatable survivor, and a cunning opponent. And she has the power to take down a corrupt society from the inside. Teamed up with a handsome daredevil named Jack and a gang of girl revolutionaries called the Free Hawks, Saba stages a showdown that will change the course of her own civilization.

My thoughts so far: I love how the narrator spells out the words. It really shows how much her grammar is. Like instead of afraid, she writes it afread or something like that. It really shows so much about the life of Saba so far. And I love how much love she shows for her twin, but not her younger sister. And who said that siblings don't choose favorites?

Would I recommend it: n/a Since I'm not that far into the book right now.

Happy 9/11

As you may have heard today is the tenth anniversary of 9/11. It has been a decade since that terrible terrorist attack happened. And you also might have heard that they're building new twin towers in New York. I'm not sure about the details, but hopefully it won't be so tall that planes won't crash into it. And in honor of 9/11, I found this on facebook from one of my friend's statuses.
‎. . ... (
. . . .(,)
. . _.-ﺜ-._
. . |. . . . |
. . |. . . . |..A candle burns in Remembrance of 09/11/2001
. . |. . . . |
. . [♥ღღ♥]..Please keep the candle burning

A candle, so post this on your facebook or in this case blog, for 9/11, please?

And here's a random poem for this day.

I was only four
Not knowing what really was happening.
The terror on everybody's faces
As they see what's happening on t.v.
Smoke was everywhere
People were escaping
Some were jumping
Lives were destroyed
On this faithful day
The nation got stronger
In unimaginable ways
Now it has been a decade
And I now know a lot more then I should know
Memorials are held for those that died
Loved ones still reminiscence
The nation's airport security
Has changed
And yet
Somewhere inside of me
Still don't know what to feel
Since no one close to me
Has died
Or was in the east coast
And yet I feel guilty
Each 9/11 day

Not really sure what I was aiming for but at least I'm honoring the day. Now off to watch the T.V which will most likely have 9/11 stuff. Salut

The Lightning Thief~ A short book review.

Goodreads summary ~ After getting expelled from yet another school for yet another clash with mythological monsters only he can see, twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is taken to Camp Half-Blood, where he finally learns the truth about his unique abilities: He is a demigod, half human, half immortal. Even more stunning: His father is the Greek god Poseidon, ruler of the sea, making Percy one of the most powerful demigods alive. There's little time to process this news. All too soon, a cryptic prophecy from the Oracle sends Percy on his first quest, a mission to the Underworld to prevent a war among the gods of Olympus.

My response~ Go get the book, and then watch the movie (which I have yet to see.) It has adventure, suspense, excitement. It is that good, even the series after the Percy Jackson books are good. Which is the Lost Hero series. That is all I have to say.
Au revoir, I have to do my homework, next time I'll try not to write a short book review.

A story

I don't have much to say today, so I'm just posting a story from my other blog http://aschoolstoryaday.blogspot.com. And it took me three weeks to notice that something was missing, and it's lying under the followers thing. Well here is the story.

Once upon a cupcake kind of time, in a land that isn’t so very far away. There was a queen named Valeria, who ruled a kingdom called Boredom. And in Boredom, you just do well boring stuff, with boring people. There weren’t really any exciting things going on in their lives, well maybe getting a foreclosure… There were never any wars, because the neighboring kingdoms thought they were too tedious to fight. Even no one came into the kingdom, because he or she would think that once he or she leaves, he or she would become just as boring him or herself. And not any of the natives themselves would dare leave.
Till
            One
                        Day…
“Hey do you want to go exploring today?” asks Jenna, again, day after day for the last five years. And day after day, I would always decline her, because the woods seemed boring to go in. With nothing ever stirring at the edges, and nothing even coming out.
I sigh about to say the same thing again, “I do-”
“Wait, a minute before you say anything, just here me out,” she says cutting m off. I nod, not really caring about what’s going to come next, but I didn’t really want to go back to working with the smoldering fire. “Okay…” she says trailing off.
“Go on,” I reply in my monotone voice. Everything seemed dull and gray, even Jenna seemed boring, with her brown hair in irregular curls, her tiny straight nose, and the unnatural rose in her cheeks. Even her eyes were a bit unusually green, with some seriousness mixed in and something else, something irregular.
“Okay, if you’re wondering why, I only ask you the same question everyday…” I start to zone out, my eyes were starting to droop, nothing but smoke seemed to be in my mind all day. “Hello Mangus? Are you listening to me?” I shake my head and start to pay attention to her. Giving her the attention as if she was another costumer, and not some girl, that I don’t really consider my friend…
“Yeah.”
“Okay,” she sighs a bit irritated, “back to the point the only reason why I ask the same question every day and not someone else, is…. Well…” I star to zone out again, not really noticing her nervousness. “IsthatI’mgettingmarriedtothejerkprincebutIdon’twantto, andplusyouseemfuntobearoundwith. And…” she says in a breath, jerking me awake.
“Huh?” I ask confused by what she meant. But I was starting to pay attention, really pay attention. There was a strange feeling coursing through me, and it almost reminded me of that one person long ago, that visited Boredom. He was trying to sell some substance, and he tested it on himself, and… happiness seemed to flood him. This feeling was like happiness, but different somehow… and yet a teensy bit familiar.
“So do you want to go exploring today?” she asks, pretending that she didn’t say what she just said before.
“Yes,” I say surprising myself, some strange feeling flooding through me, and through her eyes as well.
“Okay we start today…”
To be continued?

A tired (cover) post

It's around 3:24 A.M for me, and I'm tired. Last night I stayed up all night, before going to sleep around six in the morning. Which isn't good, since I'm already in school in stuff. In fact I have no clue why I'm writing this, nor will you know the reason why I stay up this late. In fact I'm just rambling again. Any second I'm just going to go to sleep, so I better and hurry and finish this up.
And man I'm I glad I don't have school tomorrow.

Which one is the better cover?
One

Two
Three
Four
And yes they're all from the same book, just different cover designs for each country. My favorites are one and four. One because it was obviously from the U.S, and four because the wings just fit so perfectly with the blonde? hair. And the others I think are for Europe.
Comment below, for which cover you like better.
