Beautiful People: Love is in the Air

Text reads: beautiful people for writers
hosted by www.paperfury.com
& www.furtherup-and-furtherin.blogspot.com
Beautiful People is a monthly blog meme hosted by Cait @ Paper Fury and Sky @ Further Up and Further in. Every month they post 10 questions for you to answer about your characters.
In honor of Valentine's day, this month's blog meme will be about your favorite couple from your story.

This is the first time that I've done Beautiful People by Cait and Sky. And even though I follow other bloggers who do the meme, I've never really gotten around to it, till now.

After playing eeny, meeny, miny, moe a few times to choose which of my three favorite couples I will write about today, it ended up failing. Because I simply couldn't choose one. So the three couples I'll write about today will be Rain and Beth from Immortality Doesn't Exist, Lana and Parker from Shh, Silence is Golden, and Eliza and Peter from The Shadow & her Lover

And now without further ado, here are the questions.

1. How long have they been a couple?
Rain and Beth eventually start dating between the second and third book for the Immortality Doesn’t Exist series, and that lasts for a few weeks before Beth dies.
While Lana and Parker have been dating for a few months before Shh, Silence is Golden starts. However, it’s a secret relationship that only lasts in the night.
And Eliza and Peter start dating somewhere along the course of their story, The Shadow & her Lover.

2. How did they first meet?
Beth was falling down a hole and ends up in Rain’s basement.  Because Beth was trying to escape the burning, golden dust that makes up the whole sky.
Lana and Parker met through some mutual friends of theirs.
And Eliza and Peter meet in a park. Peter showing off his fencing skills as usual, while Eliza is reading a book.

3. What were their first thoughts of each other? (Love at first sight or “you’re freakishly annoying”?)
Rain’s first thought of Beth was, what the hell is a strange girl doing in my basement? Where did she come from and how? While Beth’s first thought was, who is she? She’s kind of cute.
Lana and Parker immediately hated each other when they first met. Because Lana seemed like a know-it-all and Parker was the overly religious guy who spouted irrelevant bible verses that didn't fit in with the conversation at all.
While Eliza and Peter were immediately enchanted with each other.

4. What do they do that most annoys each other?
Beth is often annoyed when Rain shape-shifts, because she’s jealous that Rain has cooler powers. While Rain is annoyed by Beth’s stubborn nature.
Lana gets easily ticked off when Parker starts to randomly spout irrelevant bible verses and how easily he forgets about her during the day. While Parker isn’t very happy about the fact that Lana easily dismisses their kisses as meaning something more.
Eliza is annoyed that Peter isn’t willing to do something more, when they’re making out. Little remembering that he’s an asexual. While Peter is more annoyed with Eliza’s many glasses of wine that she drinks in a week.

5. Are their personalities opposite or similar?
Rain and Beth have very few things in common. Other than being paranormals, Beth is the spoiled, annoying child while Rain is the perfect, selfless child. But both have that need to be wanted.
Lana and Parker are surprisingly more alike than they originally thought. They’re both ambiverts, manipulative, vengeful, and very afraid of losing their loved ones.
Peter and Eliza are almost complete opposites of each other. Peter is the adventurous, charming, asexual, space pirate. While Eliza is the sensible, introverted, horny, bookworm, who’s often dreaming of a more exciting life for herself.

6. How would their lives be different without each other?
Beth would still be a “normal” human being, going to school and hanging out with friends, and just living a normal human life. While Rain would have married her best friend Lynn and live a perfectly normal Bionovian life.
Parker would have continued to go onto missions for the government, eventually dying one mysterious morning. While Lana would have been learning how to talk and fall for Ethan.
Peter would still continue working for Eliza’s mom, hooking up with a few people here and there. Eventually running away again. While Eliza would still stay at home and read and read and read.

7. Are they ever embarrassed of each other?
Rain and Beth: yes.
Lana and Parker: yes.
Eliza and Peter: yes.
The key to not being embarrassed of your loved one is to accept their flaws and eccentricities, which they all learn throughout the course of their story.

8. Does anyone disapprove of their relationship?
Other than Rain’s parents, everyone else is pretty accepting about Beth’s and Rain’s relationship.
A few of Lana’s friends would have disapproved of her relationship with Parker, if they ever found out.
And while everyone else is pretty accepting about Eliza’s and Peter’s relationship, Eliza’s mom stands in the way.

9. Do they see their relationship as long-term/leading to marriage?
Unfortunately for Beth and Rain, no. Because Beth dies and turns into dark, smoggy form that has a vague shape of her old body, which isn’t a ghost.
Lana and Parker also doesn’t work out because Lana dies somewhere along the storyline.
However, Eliza and Peter do end up staying in a long-term relationship that ends with marriage. After having twin boys.

10. If they could plan the “perfect outing” together, where would they go?
Beth and Rain would go to a bright, green, beautiful garden with the sun shining just right and the birds singing just so.
Lana and Parker would go to a sandy beach house.
While Eliza and Peter would go to France’s countryside.

And now the weather:

My novel cover

As far as rewriting Immortality Doesn't Exist, goes, it's definitely... interesting. The book right now is in a way darker than the original. And I like that, because it's more interesting to write now.
Speaking of IDE being a bit darker than the original, I got a new cover for it, to fit with the book. And it looks like this...
It was made by a cover artist on the Nanowrimo forums (the main one), named takecare.
And, I would say more about it but I have to go catch up on my word count before the cooking starts for Thanksgiving. Plus, I'm curious about what you think about it. Comment below, and if you already have a cover for your novel, I'm curious to see what it looks like. So if you want, show it to me.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving to the Americans that are reading this. And have a regular day/night for the non-Americans. Also, if you are doing Nanowrimo.. WRITE!

Nanowrimo 2012

Wow, I can't believe I forgot to mention this in October. And by now, it's the second day of Nanowrimo. Or National Novel Writing Month for the longer version.

For those of you who doesn't know what Nanowrimo is. Here's a quick recap on it.

Nanowrimo: Write 50 thousand words in the month of November.
The website is nanowrimo.org where you can find out more.
And if you're under eighteen and still want to participate but don't want to write 50 thousand words, then there's always the YWP version at ywp.nanowrimo.org. It's nice because you can choose your own word count goal.

It's hard because of life getting in the way (or cleaning the house in my case) and even harder if writer's block decides to visit you. But it's fun because it forces you to write the novel that you've always dreamed of. And, it will get you somewhere in your writing life.

And that's the thirty second speech* for it.

As some of you may know, this is my second year of actually doing the writing challenge. And as some of you may not know, this is my second time to write on my fantasy novel Immortality Doesn't Exist (for more info about the book, look on the my book(s) page of my blog). Only this time, it's a rewrite. Meaning everything is going to be different (kind of).

This time, I'm going to write the full 50 thousand words (maybe more), and hope that school won't get in the way that much. And for the moment, I'm okay, kind of. I still need to write another 1,6667 words for today.

Join, as well, there's still plenty of time to do that. Even on November 30th, though it would be hard to actually write 50 thousand words in a day.

And if you haven't done so already, check out the finally updated Nanowrimo page that's located at the top.

P.S Add me as a friend on either the Nanowrimo and/or YWP site, I'm 1018mockingjay on both.
thirty second speech - Where you tell people what you know about that subject/object/whatever.

I finished, I actually finished!! ^.^

After eighteen months and something days, I did it! I finally finished my book Immortality Doesn't Exist.

And I know that I should be sleeping, considering that it's a school night, but I was too excited and awake and I really wanted to finish this book. Though in truth, I'm very tired.

Well moving on, to talking about the book. It's my first novel that I ever finished. And it has 131, 792 words, thousands of lines and paragraphs, and roughly 259 pages. If you're wondering how many pages are in novel form it's about 485 pages. And most of the words/scenes are irrelevant to the actual story.

It's that long because I think in some way, I was scared to end the novel yet, because I was slightly attached to the characters. Even though they're going to be in another two books that's part of the trilogy. I know, I know trilogies are used so often now days, why am I using them?

And why wouldn't I? I love the characters I love messing with them, and I want to mess with them some more.

*Sighs* Now I have to do the editing process, which I have a feeling will be very, very, very long. Most of the scenes will be cut off, a lot of scenes rewritten. Considering that over the eighteen months my writing style has changed and I have learned what a Mary Sue is.

Well now I'll have something checked off on my unwritten bucket list.

And now I can ignore this.

And I really do have to go to sleep, because I have some state testing thing tomorrow (today), for English. And I don't want to fail on it, even though the test is easy and I always pass it every year.

So...

Umm...

I don't have much to say today, other than that I'm cold. Even though the weather is kind of spring-ish. Now, I'm going to stop talking about the weather. So, here's a picture of my character Beth, drawn by   cloudysky from nano (the main site). I'm not sure if she's still keeps up her charrie shop, but if she is, go here. Remember, you must have an account on nanowrimo in order to go on the forums.
Au revoir.
P.S I'm changing my name back to Stacy N. Easier that way, and less confusion.

Finish?

It's been sixteen months. Sixteen months since I started writing on my novel Immortality Doesn't Exist. And I'm still at the ending. -_-
I should really finish it and stop procrastinating. I've been procrastinating on it a lot. And the ending isn't that hard to finish... not unless it was this book. Or if you were me. A person that seems to want to draw it out and not want the book to end yet. Which was a bit odd considering that I'm going to write two more books and make it into a trilogy.
So ta-ta
I'm going to try to finish it today or tomorrow.
But that probably means procrastinating on the rewrite process. Oh well at least I can say I wrote a novel from finish to end.

Dots! .........

Okay the title was totally random, but no it didn't have to do with anything with dots. I'm a bit/ possibly a lot hyper. All day my siblings and I just went to five random places, and we mostly had sugary foods. Cotton candy, fried mini doughnuts, fondue, and of course ice cream. And no we didn't have dibs. Okay, I think I remembered for what I wanted to say. Sorry for the lack of posts this past week (and really dancing on the conveyor belt thing at the supermarket? [Sorry again, there was something random on the T.V]) I had school, and homework, mostly math. Which I don't like :/
And on Friday I mostly took a three hour nap to make up for my lack of sleep, and writing on my novel, which I hadn't had the chance to do in a while. Something random, was when we were checking out the jewelry at the art festival, I saw a couple of turquoise necklaces, and I swear my MC Beth from Immortality Doesn't Exist, started to freak out. It almost felt like she was going to jump out of my head and just take it. What is it with her and the color turquoise, I shall never know ;)
Well enough of my day, what about yours? Go ahead and comment on it.
And here's a picture on the 12 1/2 writing rules, which I'm sure you may have seen before.

Another excerpt.

Hello peoples. I'll post up the winner of the summer contest, tomorrow or the next day. I'll also post the next contest, soon. For today, I though it would be nice just to read another excerpt from my book Immortality Doesn't Exist.

Now it’s either me, or someone else. And frankly, I think it’s the latter. I sigh, while I knead the dough. Nostalgia washes over me, making me want to go back to Earth. Making me want to forget everything here, no wait it, just wants everything that has ever happened into a dream. However, a part of me doesn’t want all this to be a dream. I sigh again, because I’m torn in two. Part of me wants to stay here, and make anew. While another part of me wants to just go back to Earth, and just have everything back to the way it was. Once I finished kneading it, I put the dough into the pan, and into the oven. Remembering the way how mom does it, I do the same stuff as her, hoping it won’t burn. Once I finish putting it into the oven, and turn around. I was surprised to see Mannic sitting at the kitchen counter twirling a striped apple around like a basketball. “Hi?” I squeak. He didn't speak in fact; I don’t think he even noticed me. “Mannic?” I walk over to where he was sitting. “Mannic?” I ask again. He continued spinning his apple, not noticing. “Hello?” I tentatively touch his shoulder. Instead of flesh, that I expected to feel, it was just air. “Mannic?” I ask scared now. I touch him again, this time he disappeared in a puff of air.

Sorry if it's a bit short. I couldn't really decide which one too choose, so I just randomly chose one. Oh, and here's a gif, I made for it. Now let's hope it works.

It does, yay ^_^

An excerpt from my book (the one I’m writing right now)

I'm running in the silver tree forest, away, from it. I keep on running, and running not caring where I went, just as long as I get away from it. But every stride, every step I take I run deeper into the forest. To the point of where the trees clump together so tightly that, I can't see ahead of me anymore. I stop, scared, and nervous, deciding whether or not climb it, though that might cause the end of my life. But anything is better just to get away from it. So I take one step forward, then another, and another, till I'm in front of the wall of silver trees. But just as I was about to climb it, a silvery, pale fog starts surrounding everything in its path, to the point where I can't even see my hands in front of me anymore. By now, I decided just climb it anyway, even though I can't see where I'm going. But before I can put on foot forward, a pale almost inhumanly being steps forward, glaring at me. Holding a human heart in its hand, instead of a weapon of some kind, reciting some type of poem, over, and over again.
"A girl you see…" another one comes up, also holding a human heart in its hand. "That's 16 years of tree." "With semiprecious eyes…" the first one says. "She can change things like ice," says the second one. "Unexpectedly she will glow…" "And her courage will grow." "She will be the one…" "To kill the old evil that has shown." Each time they keep on saying, they twist it up more and more like they're mocking it. Making it hurt me somehow. Then the first one did what I would not have suspected… it took a bite of the heart. And the heart screamed, a cold-blooded scream, sounding just like Kisha. The first thing, smiled a sharp pointed smile, having unusually pointy teeth, almost like the sharp points of a chain saw, and then it threw the heart that screamed, at me.

(PS. Just think of Voldermort's slimy face from Harry Potter as it.) (PPS. Kisha is one of the characters in my book).
