I’m exhilarated at how well I’ve been doing so far in NaNoWriMo. This has
actually been my best year out of the three. And as you can tell, I’ve been
pretty much over the required word count goal. My characters are very interesting
to work with and there have been a few unexpected scenes and plot revelations
along the way. And this is coming from a girl who forgot the things she even
outlined about till a few days before Nanowrimo started.
I also just wanted to pop by to say that I won’t be posting much. Though
you probably noticed that by now. Between schoolwork, writing, and sleep, it
will be hard trying to come up with new posts. But, don’t think I am abandoning
you. As usual every Wednesday (or technically most Wednesday s) there will be a
new lifescouts post. And by Friday, I shall try to come up with another post.
Granted, it will most likely be another Nanowrimo post.
Have a great day or night. And if you’re doing Nanowrimo, write!
~ Stacy N.
Full quote used in the title:
“What would your good do if evil didn't exist, and what would the earth look like if all the shadows disappeared?”
I can't help but be
reminded of my two characters from my 2012 Camp Nano book,Shh, Silence is
Golden.
If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?
P.S. There are other ways of following this blog that doesn't involve emails or subscriptions, just click on the word follow that's above the subscription links to see the other options.
We launched Google Reader in 2005 in an effort to make it easy for people to discover and keep tabs on their favorite websites. While the product has a loyal following, over the years usage has declined. So, on July 1, 2013, we will retire Google Reader. Users and developers interested in RSS alternatives can export their data, including their subscriptions, with Google Takeout over the course of the next four months. ~ Source
In other words, if you go read your blogs via Google reader, make your goodbyes now because it will be gone by July 1. However, you can still read blogs, such as mine, with these other free alternatives, which are going to be in a pros and cons list* for your convenience.
Follow by email (in the sidebar):
Pros:
The post will come to you via email.
Cons:
It may take about a day or a few hours for it to arrive to you by email.**
RSS or subscribe (which will be in the sidebar eventually):
Option three: You are very welcome to choose another reader that I haven’t mentioned above; after all, it is your life.
By now, as you probably seen in the feedly picture, I’ve made the switch from Google reader to feedly. And I enjoy it so far, because it’s easy for me to use, and I don’t have to worry about if that site even has their blog or will update it once I follow them. Plus, it’s one of the few site that is actually allowed on my school network, which is nice because I’m tired of having to type https://[insert-website name here].com.
Now the whole talk about switching to someplace new is making me a bit curious about something. Where are you guys switching to, once Google reader is gone?
*pros and cons list: the list is based off of what I've experienced with each site, and it may be a bit biased, and it may not be entirely true.
**It may take about a day or a few hours for it to arrive to you by email: it depends on the email subscription site itself. Blogger for example, only allows a post to go to your email during a certain time of day, most likely letting you get the blog post one day after it was published. While on Wordpress, the post instantly goes to your email right after the post was just published.
2012, in a way, felt like the shortest year for
me. In fact, all I can really remember about it is the 'end of the world', Kony, too much time on
tumblr, writing, reading, and my birthday. However, I also remember other bits
and pieces of 2012 as well, such as the time in my ninth grade English class
that my teacher made us sit in a circle to talk about Night by Elie
Wiesel. I also remember other memories of that ninth grade English class,
however the memories seem to be a bit more recent, meaning that I cannot
remember much before 2012 started.
The same thing happens to other non-2012 memories
as well; they soon are forgotten as newer memories start to bury them even
deeper into the vast contents of my brain. The memories become dusty, having a
very small chance of ever being remembered again. The only way, I (or anybody
really) can remember forgotten memories is if they are recorded in some way.
Whether it may be a journal that I wrote, someone else remembering it, one of
my yearbooks, pictures, etc. And it doesn’t matter if it is the most amazing
memory that I would remember forever or the most horrible memory that I will
kick out of my mind, if I had the chance.
This leads me to my next point of ‘conversation’.
For all 365 days of 2013, I shall write two sentences. One sentence will be completely
fictional and story like, it’s to help encourage me to write stories whether it
is on paper or in the brain. The other sentence will describe my day, so I can
remember my life. The reason for this is simply to remember my life, so I can
draw inspiration from it as I write my stories. Plus, I think it will be fun in
a way, as I laugh on the last day of 2013, about some of the silly things I
will do in the upcoming year. And it also might help me accomplish my 2013 New
Year’s resolutions.

Well, I feel a bit
ashamed to say that I only completed two of them, and kind of did four of them
throughout the year. However, it is better than not completing a single one, in
my opinion. Hopefully, next year will be
better.
Happy New Years to the people on the other side of the world and
Happy New Years eve to everyone who’s time zone hasn’t reached or passed 12 AM. And have a year that you at least like.
Status: On track.
Chapter: Five
Character's POV that I'm writing about right now: Echo, Lana, Ethan aka Etho.
Bits and pieces from the story: (They're slightly edited)
While, sweet little Ethan
just held me tighter, quietly listening through it all. ~ Echo.
I tilt my head a little bit more,
confused. "Gallery? Why would I be going to the gallery?" ~ Lana
Darn, I’m screwed, I think to myself, while I stand
up taller awaiting orders. ~ Ethan
Words they seem to just flow through my fingers these days. Only they come at a slow pace because the internet keeps on distracting me like this picture.
Eventually I freak out because a bit too much time (an hour or two?) passes by, and I've only written a hundred or so words. But as they say during Nanowrimo time, just keep on writing, just keep writing, just keep writing (in tune to the just keep swimming song on Finding Nemo.)
So if you're freaking out about having no words written for Camp Nanowrimo...
So it's a good thing that my notebook for my Camp Nanowrimo novel is sitting next to me. Despite my kind of messy handwriting, it has proven itself useful so far.
Also words are nice, don't you think? You can say anything you want to say, make whatever you want that disregards the rules of reality, and well do anything you want, and it's yours because you're the one that is writing it.
And if you continue writing it, ignoring the negative parts about it, and finish your first draft. Then you're well on your way towards the middle, which is the editing/rewriting part of it. And then eventually you get through the middle and you are done with it. However, that's not the end because there are certainly more editing to come if you are thinking about publishing it.
And as for me, well I should stop being uncertain about my novel and just write it. I should just let my novel lead me to wherever it should go. After all, the fun novels are best written when you don't have a clue about where it goes.
However, for the moment I would like to finish season two of Doctor Who with my new penguin friend, David. Who is named after the actor that plays the tenth doctor, David Tennant.
I would also like to sleep but I doubt I'll get that soon. So I'll settle for a picture form for the moment.
Camp Nanowrimo is going really well for me. ^. ^ I'm 14% into
novel with a total of about 7115 words. I'm slightly paranoid when it comes to
saving my novel though; as well as my laptop, I save my novel to seven other
places (skydrive, google docs, my flash drive, and I email it to my four email
accounts.) That’s a lot, I know, but as they say better safe than sorry.
I’m also pleased with my main characters; though I’m surprised I have
three. Their names are Lana (female), Ethan aka Etho (male), and Echo (female). Normally, I have two but one just popped up I guess. They’re really fun
to write with, especially the unexpected one. Though I guess, I should stop
talking about my novel or else I might spoil the ending.
So here are songs I’ve been liking lately ~
I like this song because it's not a love song but a song about friendship, and the music video is funny.
This song reminds me of Ethan's love for Echo, which is sweet the more I write the book.
Starts today! ^.^
For those of you who don't know what Camp Nanowrimo [National Novel Writing Month] is, it's a writing event where you try to write 50,000 words in a single month. It came from the original NaNoWriMo event that starts in three months aka November.
It's a very nice event that can help shut up your inner editor and let your crazy juices out. In other words, while writing your novel during any kind of Nanowrimo, it's going to be really messy because you've added events that shouldn't be there, all in hopes to raise your word count. However, it's nice because that novel that you've been wanting to write since you were a little kid is already out on paper. Though, the editing process will not be a pleasant job.
So far, I've written... 60 words for my Camp Nanowrimo novel. And for some odd reason, I'm laughing about that. My biggest distraction so far is the internet especially here and the Nanowrimo sites. Also, I've decided to go with...
Cover made by featherdancer from the YWP nanowrimo forums.
So, thank you everyone for helping me decide my plot. Now, I should get off and complete my goal of 50 K. (though 35 K is just as good as well).
Have an amazing day and if you're particpating in Camp Nanowrimo...
Hey followers/viewers/readers/people
who happen to chance upon this blog,
The new blog design is up, as you
can see. And it’s very simple but not too simple. The colors that I
chose for the blog, compliments each other in a way. They don’t clash or battle each other which are
nice because the poor audience members aka your eyes can get hurt/tired from
watching it all.
New blog designs make me think of a
prom dress. And with a prom dress comes with the accessories to make the dress
stand out as well as the person wearing it. Well the accessories for this prom
dress aka blog design is the basic jewelry that you’ll find in nearly every store
only with a little twist.
And they are…
-
Blog button(s)
-
Header
-
Signature
Nearly every blog has at least one
of them if not all of them. They’re the
ones that make your dress stand out a bit. And now I should stop using the prom
dress analogy, considering that there are boys also reading this. Basically
much I have five new blog buttons that you can choose from; they’re over there
on the words that says Grab the button! Just click on it and they shall stop
hiding under the words. So if you still I have my old blog button on your blog
I recommend changing it right now or sometime soon. Also if you’re wondering
what the shape is, it is an umbrella. The
words came from here and the handle I just drew on in paint.
There are also three new pages.
One is for books that have already
been published not books that I've already written/is still writing.
Another one is my about me that you can go to by clicking the word about, under
quotes. And the last one is all the blogs that I read which you can go to by
clicking on blogs I read under about.
Along with the new blog design, I’ve
added a way for you to contact me formally. Just click on Where to find me and
there’s an envelope shape. Click on the envelope and just write your message
and click send. You can email me anything but spam; I usually check my email
often so I promise I won’t leave you hanging.
And I think that is it, nothing
else really changed except for the signature, and the navbar coming back.
However the navbar has decided to play the game peek-a-boo for fun. And if you
think I’m lying, it’s there, trust me it’s there.
~.~.~.~
Now in honor of summer let’s
have a scavenger hunt. Hidden in my blog are four shapes, a…

Pink cupcake
Most of them should be easy to find
considering that they’re right there. However others are a bit hard to find and
may take some time to reveal themselves. Comment on this page or email me, the
shapes and where you found them.
E.G.) The pink cupcake is located …
Once done and if I say you’re
right, I shall reward you with something. You can ask me for anything
reasonable that doesn’t involve money and your home address. For example, an
edited picture, or something that involves blog designing. If you want I can
redo your whole blog work but that’s going to require a lot of time and html.
So I’ll most likely give you helpful links that you can apply to your blog
(drop down menu, mapped header, etc.)
Now this is the end my dear followers/viewers/readers/people
who happen to chance upon this blog. And I shall get going or die of hunger, so
here’s some One Direction. *Mentally fan girls*
With love,
P.S. Congrats you found one of the shapes1 ^.^ Now go on and find the rest.
So after making a few adjustments with my blog last night I
finally learned how to make a mapped header. As well, as learn how to make the
font size on my drop down menu, bigger. This makes me happy, because then you
don't have to scrounge around to find the pages tab. Simply because it's now on
top of the blog posts just hidden under the header. It also means that there's
less rectangles on the drop down menu. Plus there's less overcrowding.
Also, I changed my
blog button the other day. And I've been meaning to tell you guys, however as
the human mind goes. It ended up in my forgotten pile somewhere. Well enough of
my rambling about what has changed on my blog.
The actual CD not
the one from iTunes, it's already at Wal Mart. And my twin being her Hunger
Games loving self bought the CD for around $17 and something cents. The good
thing about the CD is that it comes with a movie poster that looks like this
However, there's no black border. The CD
also comes with a pack of trading cards, that if you put together like a
puzzle. It will look like the picture above or like this
Only there are words announcing the movie
date, the movie title, etc. It all depends on which side you do first. Now I
would advise you to keep the movie poster and/or the CD away from you when
you're sleeping. Why? Well simply because you may freak out about Katniss
Everdeen having her arrow pointed at you when you wake up a bit delirious,
wondering what is happening, and is that nightmare actually happening.
Hey, it could
happen, now have a normal Sunday that hopefully isn't too hot or too cold,
depending on where you live.
Dear everyone,
Happy one day late spring equinox day. It's finally spring! ^.^ Which means, hello sunshine and warmth. Plus everything is blooming again, the sun is warmer, there's more daylight, more stuff to do, etc. Also something with spring is spring cleaning. -_- Which I might have to do in a couple of months, or probably summer depending if the weather is going to postpone this year's planned event. Most likely not, but there's always a bit of hope, right? Right
Also, I hope you like the new blog design from btemplates.com. The templates come from all over, like wordpress themes, maybe some tumblr themes? And others, that I can't think up right now. However amazing the templates look there's always a downside to them. For example, on some you can't change the font (why?), and you have to deal with unwanted highlighted all white posts which does that for no reasons, which kind of irritated me a bit before I found one that didn't do that. However there's no navigation bar on the top (again, why?). Which doesn't help, if I wanted to write a post really quickly, or go to the next blog, or work on the blog's design. Plus three's sometimes small posting room or small spaces for your widgets, or both. There's also the matter of the layout, where you can and cannot place widgets, etc. But there's plenty that doesn't do that, I think.
Minima Elite [Elite Minima?] is the template I'm using at the moment, it has a wide posting space, which I like. But it doesn't give enough space for the pictures on the general whole of the blog. And plus instead of reading multiple posts all at once, it's just excerpts of posts. With read more buttons next to them, which is kind of a downside, but I find I kind of like it. After all would you really want to read all my posts all at once? That was just some downsides, hope you like it, and have a great spring. And good luck to those of you who has to start spring cleaning soon.
S.N
P.S. I'm sorry for lying about re-opening my blog last evening. I didn't really start to work on it yesterday evening, and I was kind of napping for a couple of hours. So I was unable to do any work at the time. Not unless I found a way to play on the computer while sleeping...
Well moving on, it's open now is it?
I'm slightly [maybe a lot?] redesigning my blog design. I'll open it open, once it's done.
The reason is because, I don't like the background even though I just changed around this month. And other stuff as well.
Well thanks for listening, I'll open it up probably around tomorrow evening.
Okay, three more posts till the big 100, and the contest is ending soon. I need the questions, music suggestions, and contest entries due byAugust 5, 2011. So far I only have one submission. For more info on the contest go here. If you're wondering about the questions/ music suggestions go here.
I'll not accept any more after the deadline. Some stuff that's going to be on the big 100 if you were wondering. Is my writing, questions (if I get enough), pictures, music, and something else, or two. Well see ya, and don't forget to enter the contest, if you wan to.
Eight more posts till the big 100 post. Yay, I'm so excited and I'm going to need your help. I need you viewers, followers, readers etc to comment, or e-mail me at staceriffic@gmail.com, your questions, and music suggestions. And the questions can be about everything, from what is my favorite item to how I feel about the U.S debt system (though I have no clue who will actually send/ comment me that question). Also if you're going to comment/send in music suggestions, please make sure the music is appropriate.
AND IT HAS TO BE DUE BY AUGUST 5TH.
And remember if you hadn't joined my contest, join now all entries will no later be due by August 5th. For more info please go here.
So fellow viewers as you may or may have not noticed by now. I shall not be sweets1018 anymore, but 1018mockingjay. Maybe just plain mockingjay in the future. Why I changed my name was that some people from the nano sites, kind of wondered who is this sweets1018 person. So I changed it, so they won't be confused anymore. And plus I like the name 1018mockingjay better anyways. It stuck with me, since last year, when I was "patiently" waiting for my pre-order of Mockingjay to come in the mail.
And I also changed my picture to one of the anime characters that I used to watch. (Episode 20, and 290ish more to go). It's from the anime Shugo Chara if you're wondering. One day I shall do a book review on it, so you shall understand what I'm talking about, if you haven't seen or read the books already.
Hop Step Jump
Drew Draw Drawn
Chip Syrup Whip
That was some lyrics from the opening song, if you were wondering. Well tip, tip tally ho, if that's spelled right. Well what I meant to say was see ya.
(Weird something strange has happened to the text above. It won't turn normal, as I asked it too).
Here, here, I pronounce the Happiness contest canceled, since no one seems to be interested in it. So DO NOT send me your stuff, because it's canceled.
